EASIER, the Horizon 2020 research project, officially started on the 1st of February during its virtual kick-off meeting.
EASIER aims to design, develop, and validate a complete multilingual machine translation system that will act as a framework for barrier-free communication among deaf and hearing individuals and provide a platform to support sign language content creation.
The project foresees a strong involvement of end-users in the design, development, and evaluation of the EASIER ecosystem: users of various European sign and spoken languages will be able to use their preferred language to interact with each other.
EASIER formed a consortium of 14 partners from eight European countries to ensure a wide range of skills and technical knowledge needed to pursue the project’s objectives. The team includes representatives from the industry, higher education and research institutions, non-governmental organizations, research organizations, and SMEs.
Press releases about the project launch are available in different languages on the project website and YouTube channel.
